Residential burglary

A home in the 4600 block of Main Street was burglarized on May 18. According to the report, $2,000 in cash, an Apple laptop and a piggy bank were taken. Police suspect entry was made through the rear door by using brute force.

A garage in the 8200 block of Tripp Avenue was burglarized on May 20. According to the report, several phone accessories and two bottles of hand sanitizer were taken from a vehicle parked in the garage.

Theft from motor vehicle

A DVD player and GPS device were stolen from a car parked in the Federal Mogul parking lot, 7450 McCormick Blvd., on May 25 around 12 p.m. According to the report, the driver had left his doors unlocked.

Sunglasses theft

Andrea Poster, 21, of the 1900 block of Darrow Avenue in Evanston, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft after she allegedly stole a pair of $9.50 sunglasses from Old Navy, 9435 Skokie Blvd., on May 23. 

According to the report, Poster told police that she forgot to pay for the sunglasses and put them in her purse instead. Her court date is June 8.

Obscene damage 

A car parked in the 10000 block of Frontage Road was vandalized on May 23. According to the report, black spray paint was used to write the words, “F*** YOU” and scratch marks were left the vehicle's paint finish. The owner told police he had no idea who was responsible.
