Thursday Blotter: Damage Leads to Daytime DUI Arrest

Daytime DUI

Kristina Maksvitaityte Mastaviciene, 37, of the 7500 block of Country Lane in Darien, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Sept. 13 around 11:45 a.m. Police found Mastaviciene in the 7400 block of Linder Avenue with a flat tire and front-end damage to her vehicle, according to the report. Police noted that Mastaviciene smelled strongly of alcohol and a test showed her blood alcohol content level was .276. She has a court date of Oct. 28.

Unfortunate name-calling

Police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint at Walgreen’s, at 9150 Skokie Blvd. on Sept. 13. According to the report, a Hispanic male began calling a woman dying of cancer a “crack head.” The offender made vulgar remarks toward the woman and tried running her over with his car, stating, “I’d be doing her a favor.”

The suspect then fled the scene, but the victim was able to record his vehicle's license plate and provide the information to police.

DUI

Jose Antonio Garcia, 34, of the 1700 block of Devon Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Sept. 13. According to the police report, officers found Garcia sleeping inside his scrap metal truck in the 7400 block of East Prairie Road. Garcia had a blood alcohol content level of .189. The suspect also had no valid driver’s license. His court date is Sept. 27.

Vehicle vandalized

A car parked in the 5300 block of Church Street had its tires deflated and side mirrors removed on Sept. 15.
