Phone lines cut in burglary
Police responded to a residential burglary in the 8100 block of Kostner Street on March 1 around 7 p.m. According to the report, phone lines in the back of the home were cut and then a rear door was pried open to gain entry. , no items were taken.
The victim noted that she received an unusual phone call an hour earlier from female caller. She also told police that her family owned several Chinese restaurants in Chicago and was once targeted in a burglary 12 years ago.

Day-care center vandalized
Police were dispatched to a day-care facility in the 8100 block of Kenneth Street on March 1 around 5 p.m. According to the report, police found the letters “CCC” and “RTC” along with a picture of an upside crown.

Bilked cabbie
A teen ditched his cab fare in the 8300 block of Christiana Avenue on Feb. 26 around 6:30 p.m. According to the report, the passenger asked the cab driver if he had change for a $20 bill, at which point he exited the vehicle and fled the area. The fare was $14.
Driver's lie uncovered
Alena Gillana, 24, of the 2000 block of Lunt Avenue in Chicago, was charged with obstructing justice on March 2 around 1 a.m. After her vehicle was stopped for speeding, Gillana told officers she didn’t have her license on her. After providing her name and date of birth, she was handcuffed and taken to the police station for driving without a license.
Later, the arresting officer was going through Gillana’s purse and found two traffic citations under a different name. He then requested an image from the state's database and realized that Gillana gave him a false name and date of birth. Her court date is April 11.
