Thursday Blotter: Failed Insurance Fraud

The following arrest information was supplied by the Skokie Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction. At Skokie Patch, we update our blotter daily.

Failed Forgery
A man defending himself at the Skokie Courthouse against charges of invalid insurance attempted to use a fake insurance card in court on May 22. The man presented a document that police discovered to have a photocopied expiration date. Authorities checked the policy number of the card, which turned out to have expired three years ago. He was found guilty o finsurance violation. 

$3400 Worth of Car Radios Stolen
Two cars parked in the 7600 block of Sheman Avenue were burglarized between May 19 at 7 p.m. and May 23 at 8 a.m. Radio systems were taken from each car that are valued at $1700 a piece.

Not Cool
Copper from two tan Trane Air Conditioning Units was stolen from residences in the 5200 block of Main Street between May 23 at 5:23 p.m. and May 24 at 10 a.m. Authorities discovered that a sharp tool was used to make two small holes inside the units. Power was shut off of the machines to abstract the copper.

Fraudulent Cell Phone Purchase
A resident in the 5100 block of Chase reported that someone had used her Social Security Number and date of birth to fraudulently obtain a Kyocera Brio cell phone and a ZET Score cell phone from Cricket between May 23 and May 24.
