Attempted air conditioner theft

Police responded to the 4100 block of Oakton Street regarding an attempted air conditioner theft on April 26 around 7:30 a.m. According to the report, a copper hose attached to the unit was cut in an unsuccessful attempt to remove the air conditioner.

Spare tire stolen

A 15-inch spare tire was stolen from a van parked at the Budget Rental lot, 5151 Dempster St., from April 10-26. According to the report, there were no surveillance cameras in the vicinity.

Minor fire near business

Police responded to a criminal damage compliant in the 4600 block of Church Street on April 26 around 11 a.m. According to the report, a small fire was set near the north side of a business. Officers observed broken bottles and glue surrounding the area.

Irate son breaks $4,000 in china

A juvenile broke his mother’s fine china after she left him at home without any food on April 26. Some of the damaged items included three crystal goblets valued at $300 a piece, a crystal vase valued at $1,500 and two elephant figurines valued at $150 a piece. All in all, the damage is put at more than $4,000, police reported.

When the boy's mother returned home, he jumped on her car's hood and began swearing. His mother eventually called police to have him arrested, according to the report. 

Man flees bank with fake ID

A man tried to withdraw $250 using a fraudulent Illinois identification at Charter One Bank, 3300 Dempster St., on April 26 around 3:30 p.m. According to the report, the man also wanted to open three business accounts, but was denied when his identification came back invalid after a check. He left the bank in an unknown direction. Police are investigating the case. 

Vehicle vandalized at mall lot

A woman reported that the passenger side window of her vehicle was smashed while it was parked outside the Cheese Cake Factory at Old Orchard Mall on April 26 around 8 p.m. According to the report, no other car was damaged and no items were missing from the damaged vehicle.
