Thursday Blotter: "Medical Marijuana," Burglary and More

Medical Marijuana

Jahanzeb Norat, 28, of the 1900 block of Howard Street in Evanston, was charged with possession of marijuana. Norat was arrested after police pulled her vehicle over for traffic violation near the 9400 block of Leamington. When officers asked Norat if she had anything illegal on her, she responded, "I have some weed, but [I] use it for medical purposes," according to the report.

Smashed window

On Oct. 5 about 4 p.m. officers responded to a criminal damage call in the 9700 block of Gross Point Road. According to the report, a woman had her rear window smashed in.

Car radio stolen

On Oct. 5 about 6 p.m., officers responded to a theft from a motor vehicle call in the 8300 block of Monticello Avenue. Police were told that a window was smashed and a JVC stereo was stolen from a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria.

Stolen pop

On Oct. 5 about 6 p.m., officers responded to a theft in the 3700 block of Greenleaf Avenue. Several juveniles were walking in an alley and allegedly removed about 18 cans of Coca-Cola. Police were unable to find the suspects.

Residential burglary

A home in the 4000 block of Dempster Street was burglarized on Oct. 3 about  11 a.m. According to the report, brute force was used to gain entry and steal $2,000 in cash and three nail gel heaters valued at $115 each.

DUI arrest

On Sept. 30 about 10 p.m., officers stopped Mik Youkhana, 33, of the 7200 block of California Avenue in Chicago, for a traffic violation. After speaking with Youkhana, officers detected the strong presence on alcohol on his breath. It was later revealed that Youkhana had a blood alcohol content level of .198. He was charged with driving under the influence.
