Thursday Blotter: Prescription Bust

Bilked cabbie

A cab driver was bilked out of a $15 fare on Dec. 10. The driver dropped off two teens near the Howard CTA station prior to his customers fleeing.

Student reports missing phone

A Niles North High School student reported his Apple iPhone 5 missing on Dec. 14. The teen told police that the phone – along with $10 in cash – was removed from his school locker.

Bad tenant

A tenant didn’t make rent payments for almost three years and took all of the appliance units with him when he moved out on Dec. 13. The owner of the unit estimates his losses are around $40,000, the report said.

Mary Jane

A 24-year-old Skokie man was charged with possession of marijuana after police stopped his vehicle near Dempster Street and Bronx Avenue on Dec. 13. The man had less than two grams of pot in his possession, the report stated.

Stolen wallet leads to fraud

A woman reported her wallet stolen after shopping at Old Orchard Mall on Dec. 13. Shortly after realizing that her wallet was stolen, the woman noticed several fraudulent charges totaling $2,100, the report said.

Theft leads to prescription bust

William Baxtresser, 27, of Chicago, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft and felony possession of a controlled substance on Dec. 13. Baxtresser stole a USB data stick from Best Buy, 5425 Touhy Ave., and was stopped by store security, the report stated.

When police arrived, they searched Baxtresser and found several Oxycodone pills in his possession that did not belong to him, the report said.
