Thursday Blotter: Robber Beats Victim with Orange Cone

Police responded to a criminal damage compliant in the 3400 block of Greenwood Avenue on Oct. 13. According to the report, several ineligible words were written on a homeowner’s fence with a black marker.

Purse hanging on chair stolen

Police responded to a theft at in the 9600 block of Skokie Boulevard on Oct. 13. According to the report, a purse hanging on the back of a chair was reported stolen. The victim soon learned that her credit cards were used at a nearby Target. Police are advising women not to hang their purses on the back of chairs.

Robbery

A customer waiting in line at Shell Gas Station, 8400 McCormick Blvd., was robbed on Oct. 13. According to the report, the customer was waiting in line when an unknown person struck him from behind. The suspect then went on to beat the victim with an orange plastic caution cone. The culprit then took the victim’s cell phone and fled the scene. 

Stolen auto

A car parked in the 5200 block of Old Orchard Road was reported stolen on Oct. 14.

Stolen card

A man reported his credit card stolen after dinning at Popeye’s Restaurant in Morton Grove on Oct. 14. According to the report, the victim believes he was never given back his credit card after purchasing his meal. He soon learned that several charges were made on his card later that day, including a $278 purchase at n Old Orchard and a $186 purchase at in Skokie.
