Tuesday Blotter: 2nd Home Victim of Paintball Vandalism

2nd paintball incident

Police responded to a disorderly conduct compliant in the 4900 block of Morse Avenue on June 28 around 8:30 p.m. When police arrived, they realized that the caller’s home was hit with paintballs. The female resident noted that she saw a dark sedan speed off shortly after the incident.

Stolen bike

A bicycle valued at $120 was stolen from Central Park on June 29 around 12:45 p.m. The victim told police the bike was not locked.

Marijuana possession charge

Christopher Cannon, 32, of the 3300 block of Park Place in Evanston, was charged with possession of cannabis on June 29 around 9 p.m. According to the police report, Cannon was stopped for a traffic violation at the 8400 block of McCormick Boulevard.

After police pulled over his vehicle, they smelled the odor of burnt cannabis and found 7.29 grams of marijuana in the vehicle. Cannon was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also given a citation for a traffic violation. His court date is Aug. 11.

Graffiti

Police responded to a criminal damage complaint near the intersection of Oakton Street and Crawford Avenue on June 30 around 3 p.m. According to the police report, an upside down pitchfork and the letters “CG” were scrawled on a traffic light pole. Typically, an upside down pitchfork is a sign of disrespect toward the Gangster Disciples.

Phone theft

A phone valued at $400 was reported stolen at the Oakton Aquatic Center in the 4600 block of Oakton Avenue when it was left unattended June 30.

A phone, iPod and $20 in cash were reported stolen at the Oakton Aquatic Center in the 4600 block of Oakton Avenue on June 30.

Car burglarized

A car parked at Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton St., was burglarized June 30. According to the report, a bag containing about $20 in cash, keys and eight to nine moving citations from various police departments were stolen. The vehicle's owner told police she left her windows down.

Vacant home vandalized

A vacant home in the 7400 block of Kostner Avenue was vandalized June 30. According to the report, the rear door’s deadbolt lock and the doorframe were damaged.
