Tuesday Blotter: Another Burglary After Disabling Alarm

Another disabled alarm burglary

Police responded to a late reported residential burglary in the 5000 block of Golf Road on Feb. 24. According to the report, brute force was used to gain entry into the residence. Electrical wires were also cut on the outside of the house. The victims said they were at a restaurant in Mount Prospect when the break-in occurred. They reported that nothing was missing.

, but only a White Sox baseball was taken from the residence.

Driver 3 times over DUI limit

Robert Sepulveda, 61, of the 1400 block of 45th Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Feb. 17 around 7:30 p.m. Police found Sepulveda and his vehicle crashed in the medina near the 8800 block of Gross Point Road.

Sepulveda told officers he didn’t remember his birth date, address or where he placed his driver’s license. Police recorded that he had a blood alcohol content level of .253. Police also charged him with improper lane usage, not wearing a seatbelt, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving without insurance and driving on an expired license. A court hearing is scheduled for March 11.

Double strike for driver

Police charged Esther Alvarez, 23, of the 2400 block of Lake Street in Evanston, with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of marijuana on Feb. 18 around 3:30 a.m. Alvarez was stopped for speeding near the 3700 block of Oakton Street. She told police that she was “intoxicated” but refused to take a Breathalyzer test.

Police also found an opened bottle of vodka and more than three grams of marijuana in her vehicle. Her court date is March 11.

No license results in arrest

Bryan Ferguson, 47, of the 8900 block of Linder Avenue in Morton Grove, was charged with driving on a revoked license on Feb. 20 around 1:30 a.m. Police stopped Ferguson near Laramie Avenue and Dempster Street for a traffic violation. Police later discovered that his license was revoked for driving under the influence. His court date is March 1.

Heated father-son dispute

Spiro George Houmpavlis, 20, of the 6800 block of Lavergne Street, was charged with domestic battery on Feb. 25 around 4:20 p.m. According to the report, Houmpavlis had just arrived home from a funeral and drove his vehicle into his father’s rose garden. His father yelled at Houmpavlis, who then retaliated by punching, kicking and choking him. A court hearing is scheduled on March 7.

Retail theft

Police charged two women--Porsche Small, 19, and Kyanna Campbell, 20--with retail theft on Feb. 25. According to the report, Macy’s security personnel witnessed both suspects attempt to walk out of the store with several handbags without paying. The value of the items was more than $420.
