Witness to car burglary

A resident said he was watching football in his apartment near Suffield Terrance and Terminal Avenue when he saw a man fleeing the scene of a car burglary on Sept. 11. According to the report, the suspect had broken a window to the vehicle that was parked near the apartment. A GPS device was taken from the vehicle.

Cable account fraud

A man living in the 9500 block of Bronx Avenue reported a deceptive practice on Sept. 13. According to the report, when he tried to open a Comcast account, a representative told the man that he already had one and that his account was past due. The man told police he had not opened a Comcast account.

Grill theft suspects busted

Police responded to a burglary regarding a stolen charcoal grill in the 8200 block of Kilbourn Avenue on Sept. 13. According to the report, the victim spotted two “scrappers” who had his charcoal grill in the back of their pickup truck. The suspects were sleeping in the vehicle and police were able to apprehend Mario Garcia, 37 and Antonio Garcia, 34, both of Chicago. Garcia was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a valid license.

Candy theft stopped

Sarah B. Lilie, 28, of the 1700 block of Central Street in Evanston, was charged with retail theft on Sept. 14. According to the report, Lilie took 18 packs of Gushers fruit snacks and two juices from Jewel, 9449 Skokie Blvd. Lilie told police she took the candy because “she had no money.” The combined value of the items was $8.76.

Wallet swiped at Skokie Hospital

Police responded to a theft at Skokie Hospital on Sept. 14. According to the report, a woman told police that a wallet was stolen from her purse while in her office.
