Tuesday Blotter: Bizarre Day, Residential Burglaries

Very bizarre day

On March 25 around 11 a.m., a man walked into his home in the 9400 block of Lavergne Avenue and found a female, described as white, about 250 pound and 50 years old, lying on his couch.

The shocked homeowner asked, "What the f*** are you doing here?” According to the report, the suspect then fled the home and the resident followed her. Outside, he saw a second heavyset woman about 50 years old. Both started running down the street and a black “shinny” car pulled up.

Before entering the car, one of the suspects lifted her shirt and revealed her bra to the homeowner. Both women got into the vehicle, which sped away from the area.

The resident reported that no valuables were missing from his home.

Craigslist scam

A woman came into the Skokie police station to report a deceptive practice on March 25. According to the report, she had responded to a Craigslist ad in which an “employer” asked her to deposit a $2,800 check into her account.

After depositing the check, she was instructed to take out about $700 for her services and send the remainder via a Western Union Money Order to Florida. However, after a few days, she was contacted by her bank and informed that her check was fraudulent and that they would be reversing the funds.

Theft from motor vehicle

Police were dispatched to the 7500 block of Lincoln Avenue regarding a theft from motor vehicle on March 4. According to the report, the rear window was smashed to gain entry in the car. Nothing of any particular value was reported missing.

A GPS device was stolen from a car parked in the 8200 block of Knox Avenue on March 25. According to the report, the driver said he had locked his car that did not sustain exterior damage.

More than $3,000 of audio equipment was stolen from a luxury sedan parked in the 8300 block of Keeler Avenue on March 25. According to the report, a blunt object was used to break the driver’s side window to gain entry.

A customer’s vehicle parked at Sherman Dodge, 7601 Skokie Blvd., was burglarized on March 26. According to the report, a window to the vehicle was broken to steal a $3,500 DVD entertainment system.

Car stolen

A car was reported stolen on March 26 around 9 p.m. According to the report, the vehicle was stolen while it was parked in the 8900 block of Niles Center Road.

Underage drinking

Two teenagers were charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor on March 11 around 12:30 a.m. According to the report, Cecilla Chang, 19, of the 9200 block of Ridgeway Avenue, and Kashif Mushtaq, 18 of the 4800 block of Davis Avenue, were intoxicated. Chang registered a .206 blood alcohol level and Mushtaq had a .163 blood alcohol level.

Marijuana possession

Police charged Mackendy Pierre, 27, of the 1700 block of Monroe Street in Evanston, with possession of marijuana on March 26. According to the report, Pierre was stopped for a traffic violation near the 8600 block of McCormick Boulevard.

Police used their K-9, Dino, to search the vehicle for any contraband. The search paid off and police discovered almost a gram of marijuana rolled into a cigar.
