Tuesday Blotter: Garage Burglaries Hit Skokie

Retail theft

Mishea Norrella Robinson, 46, of the 200 block of Flournoy Avenue in Oak Park, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft on June 11. According to police reports, Robinson allegedly attempted to leave with several items valued at $100 from the TJ Maxx store in the 3300 block of Golf Road. She was stopped by store security whose camera caught her concealing the items. Her court date is July 12.

Police responded to a criminal damage compliant at Schack Park on June 10 around 8 p.m. According to the report, two picnic tables were damaged and rendered unusable.

A car parked in the 4900 block of Davis Street had its front window shattered on June 10. According to the report, the victim has no idea who could be responsible.

Chip bandit gets away

Police responded about 7 p.m. June 10 to a delayed retail theft at Walgreens, 4850 Oakton St. According to the report, a man walked into the store, concealed three bags of potato chips value of $5.97 and fled the store. The suspect was described as a 16-year-old black male, weighing about 150 pounds and standing about 5-foot-11.

Garage burglary

A garage in the 9400 block of Lowell Avenue was burglarized on June 10. According to the report, entry was gained through a faulty door to the garage. Once inside, about $5 in change and wallet were removed from a vehicle inside the garage.

A garage in the 8100 block of Keating Avenue was burglarized on June 11. According to the report, a mountain bike valued at $100 was stolen.

A garage in the 8300 block of East Prairie Road was burglarized on June 11. According to the police report, two men’s bicycles value of $1,500 were stolen. It is unclear how entry was made into the garage.

A garage in the 9400 block of Lowell Avenue was burglarized on June 8. According to the police report, two children’s bicycles–with training wheels–and a lawnmower were stolen.

Theft from ‘Bloomies’

Maria Suzanne Divina-Salgado, 30, of the 3000 block of Kilpatrick Avenue in Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft on June 11. According to police reports, Salgado tried to leave with more than $325 worth of merchandise from the Bloomingdales in Old Orchard Mall. Store security cameras caught her concealing the items inside her purse. Her court date is June 23.

Wallet snatchers strike, again

A woman who was dining at Nordstrom Café in Old Orchard Mall reported her wallet missing on June 12. According to the report, the woman placed her purse on the back of her chair. She realized several hours later that her credit card was missing and later discovered more than $500 was charged to her card.

Shoe thief

Police responded June 11 to a delayed theft report at the Marshalls store in the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard. According to the report, the suspect entered the store and tried on a pair of $50 Clarks shoes. The suspect fled with the shoes on and without paying for them.

Gym theft

More than $800 in cash and several credit cards were stolen from a jacket left behind at Lifetime Fitness on June 10. According to the report, a gym member left his jacket behind. When he returned, everything inside his jacket was missing.

DUI

Thomas D. Creigh, 55, of the 700 block of Hibbard Road in Wilmette, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on June 8. According to the report, Creigh's vehicle was stopped for speeding near Skokie Boulevard and Golf Road. He later failed a field sobriety test and refused to provide a breath sample. His court date is June 28.
