Tuesday Blotter: Lots of DUIs, Stolen Refrigerator and More

Big-screen TV stolen

On Sept. 3 at 6:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 8200 block of Keating Avenue for a residential burglary. A man told police his 40-inch Sony Bravia television was stolen possible between 2:30 and 6 p.m.

Teens allegedly rob friend

On Sept. 6 at 7 p.m., officers responded to a residential burglary in the 4600 block of Main Street. According to the report, the victim's friends stole an XBox 360, Playstation 3, numerous games and a roll of quarters from the residence. The suspects were ages 14-15, and the victim said he saw his friends flee as they tried to steal his 47-inch flat-screen television. Police are investigating the issue.

Home ransacked

A home in the 9100 block of Kostner Avenue was burglarized Sept. 6 about  6 p.m. According to the police report, entry was made through a basement window and an Apple Mac desktop computer, several pieces of jewelry and a pillowcase were missing. Police are investigating the issue.

Retail theft

Lorenzo Alphonso Green, 18, of the 9100 block of Lawler Avenue, was arrested for shoplifting at Nordstrom in Old Orchard Mall on Sept. 3. Store authorities saw Green place a watch and a pair of sunglasses in his sweater pocket. Officers were able to recover the stolen merchandise from Green.

Refrigerator stolen

A $1,500 True brand refrigerator was stolen from a bar in the 8200 block of Lincoln Avenue on Sept. 3 between 2:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. The manager said the refrigerator had been placed outside overnight on the south side of the building.

DUI arrests

Jonathan Nathaniel Abbott, 21, of the 1600 block of Fowler Street in Evanston, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol during a Labor Day checkpoint in the 8700 block of McCormick Boulevard on Aug. 28 at 1:29 a.m. Abbott had a .097 blood alcohol content level.

On Sept. 5 at 4:05 a.m., officers found Larry McCoy, 25, of the 9100 block of Stevenson Avenue in Des Plaines, sleeping in his vehicle while it was running. Officers also saw substantial damage to the driver's side door. McCoy was given a Breathalyzer test, which showed he had a .173 blood alcohol content level. McCoy was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Charles Andrews, 35, of the 2700 block of 14th Street in Chicago, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Sept. 4 at 4:18 a.m. Andrews was pulled over for a traffic violation near the 3700 block of Dempster Street. After he told police that he had "three beers and two shots of Tequila," officers administrated a Breathalyzer test that showed the driver had a .101 blood alcohol content level.

Michael Harris, 22, of the 3800 block of Chase Avenue in Lincolnwood, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Sept. 4 about 12:30 a.m. Harris was pulled over for not having his headlight on near the 4100 block of Howard Street. He told officers he drank "one Becks beer and a few sips of Bacardi rum." He blew a .114 on the Breathalyzer test and was arrested.

Dariusz Kowlalski, 54, of the 5100 block of Greenwood Avenue in Skokie, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Sept. 1 about 11:30 p.m. Skokie police received a call about a possible DUI driver and were informed of his plate number and vehicle type. Officers found Kowlalski pulling into his driveway and after detecting a strong odor of alcohol, the driver was given a Breathalyzer test. He showed a .184 blood alcohol content level and was arrested.
