Tuesday Blotter: Ref Battered for Bad Call

UPDATE

Michael Lee of the 5800 block of North Cicero Avenue, Chicago, was charged with battery on March 6. He attacked a referee, Michael Pavone, following a recreational basketball game at the Weber Center, 9300 Weber Park Place, police said. According to the report, Lee grabbed the referee's face and pushed him. NOTE: It was earlier incorrectly reported that Pavone was the perpetrator in this incident. Patch.com has received updated information from the Skokie Police Department verifying that Lee was the perpetrator and Pavone the victim.

"Bad call"

Michael Pavone (see corrected information above) of the 5800 block of North Cicero Avenue, Chicago, was charged with battery on March 6. Pavone attacked a referee following a recreational basketball game at the Weber Center, 9300 Weber Park Place, police said. According to the report, Pavone thought the referee was "terrible," and grabbed the official's face and pushed him.

Teen scuffle

Police responded to a battery complaint at the intersection of Main Street and Niles Center Road on March 7 around 4:20 p.m. According to police, two teens got into an argument and began fighting. Both juveniles were issued local ordinance citations and no injuries were reported.

Theft from auto

A briefcase and laptop were reported stolen from a car parked outside Old Orchard Mall on March 6. The offender gained entry by breaking the driver's side window, police said.

DUI

David Martin, 43, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on March 7. It is unclear where and when Martin was stopped.

Stolen gutter

A 10 foot gutter was reported stolen from a home in the 9400 block of Leamington on March 7.

Keyed car

A car parked in the 8200 block of Kilpatrick Avenue was scratched using a sharp object on March 7.
