Tuesday Blotter: Resident Scares Off Would-be Burglar

Close call with would-be burglar

Police responded to an attempted burglary in the 5300 block of Brummel Avenue on Aug. 11. According to the report, the resident told police that a male and female tried to break into his home while he was at home. The occupant said he noticed a man opening his bedroom window. When he tapped on the glass, the suspects fled the scene after they realized someone was inside.

One suspect was described as a black male, age 15-20, weighing about 120 pounds and standing about 5-foot-8. The woman was 20-30 years old, weighing about 130 pounds and standing about 5-foot-10.

Garage burglary

Police responded to a garage burglary in the 8600 block of Harms Road on Aug. 11. According to the report, coins, music CDs and a pair of Ray Ban Sunglasses were removed from an unlocked vehicle. The loss was estimated at $300.

Neighborly dispute

A criminal damage compliant was filed after an incident in the 8200 block of Knox Avenue around 2 a.m. Aug. 12. According to the report, a man was throwing garbage cans at an Oldsmobile sedan. The owner suspected the culprit to be a neighbor due to an ongoing dispute that started last year.

Police confronted the alleged suspect but he denied any involvement. No charges were filed.

Graffiti

Police responded to a criminal damage compliant in the 3500 block of Touhy Avenue on Aug. 11. According to the report, white spray paint was used to write ineligible words on the east side of a business.

Random vandalism

A criminal damage compliant was filed after a car was vandalized in the 8400 block of Kedvale Avenue on Aug. 11. According to the report, the rear window of a sedan was smashed with a blunt object.
