Tires slashing

A woman came into the Skokie police station to report that two tires were punctured while her vehicle was parked in Skokie on April 5. According to the report, the tow and tire damage had a combined value of about $500. The report did not mention where the incident occurred.

Police responded to TJ Maxx in the 3300 block of Golf Road regarding a tire slashing on April 8 around 4:30 p.m. According to the report, the driver said she knew of no motive from the vandalism and placed the damage to her tires at $200.

Random vandalism

A business owner in the 8100 block of Monticello Avenue reported that his glass door was broken in the southwest corner of his building on April 11 around 9 a.m. According to the report, the business has an alarm but it did not go off. No items were reported missing.

Attempted burglary

Police responded to the 4900 block of Louise Avenue to investigate an attempted burglary on April 15 around 11 a.m. According to the report, the burglary was attempted by throwing a red brick at her window but it failed to break the glass. No items were reported missing.

Residential burglaries

A home in the 8100 block of Kenton Street was burglarized on April 14. According to the report, the upstairs bedrooms were ransacked and several items, including an X-Box 360 and laptop were taken. Police suspected entry was made through an unlocked rear door.

Police responded to a delayed report of residential burglary in the 9400 block of Lowell Avenue on April 15. According to the report, the home was completely ransacked, with food from the freezer was thrown on the floor and the kitchen cabinets, closets and bedrooms were rummaged through. 

In the end, the resident reported $300 in cash was missing as well as a $1,200 laptop and a debit card. The homeowner told police she forgot to activate the alarm system. Police are investigating the matter.

Police responded to a residential burglary in the 4400 block of Foster Avenue on April 15 around 6:30 p.m. According to the report, several laptops were stolen after force was used to gain entry through the back door. The computers were valued at $4,400.

Unwelcomed visitor

A homeowner in the 9000 block of Bennett Avenue told police that he saw a black male inside his garage rummaging through his vehicle on April 15 around 4 p.m. According to the report, the offender fled when confronted by the homeowner.

The suspect was described as 5-foot-8, average build, short black hair with scruffy facial hair. The homeowner also told police that the offender appeared to be intoxicated or high. No items were reported missing.

Best Buy employee busted

Police charged Shadrak Amedin, 43, of the 4300 block of Oakton Street, with misdemeanor retail theft on April 14. According to the report, Best Buy security witnessed Amedin take a $60 Bluetooth headset and put it in his pocket. Security personnel told police that they suspected someone was stealing returned merchandise and began watching Amedin.

Deceptive practice

A woman came into the police station to report that several fraudulent transactions were made on her charge card on April 17. According to the report, almost $1,100 in tickets was purchased on her card. Police are investigating the matter.
