Tuesday Blotter: Scary Burglary Attempt

Scary burglary

A woman came into the Skokie police station to report an attempted burglary on Nov. 18. According to the report, the woman was watching TV when she heard scratching and banging on her back door. When she went to investigate, she said she saw “the deadbolt turning as though someone was trying to unlock the door,” according to the report. The victim then began banging on the door and the alleged suspect fled the scene.

Police would later investigate the scene, and noticed pry marks on the victim's door.

Stolen recycling bin

A recycling bin left outside a home in the 4000 block of Howard Street was reported stolen on Nov. 18.

Apple theft

Angela Coscino, 42, of the 1000 block of Talcott Avenue in Park Ridge, was charged with retail theft on Nov. 18. According to the report, Coscino allegedly tried stealing two software products with a combined value of $510 from the in Her court date was Nov. 23.

Missing cell phone

A man reported his cell phone stolen while he was at in Skokie on Nov. 18. The phone was valued at around $400.
