Tuesday Blotter: Stolen Gas, Stolen Phones

Gang graffiti

Police patrol observed gang graffiti in the 4600 block of Oakton Street on April 12. According to the report, the symbols appeared to be from the Latin Kings and targeted toward the Gangster Disciples. The graffiti featured an upside down pitchfork, the report said.

Theft from auto

A flip out DVD player valued at around $500 was reported stolen from a car parked in the 7400 block of Kenneth Avenue on April 11. According to the report, the suspect gained entry by smashing out the driver’s side window.

Stolen iPhones from Apple Store

Police responded to a theft at the Apple Store in Old Orchard Mall on April 11. According to the report, an unknown person removed three iPhones valued at $750 each and fled the store.

Missing Link card

A woman reported than an unknown person removed her Link card while she was at Skokie Hospital on April 11. The balance of the card was around $200, the report said.

Stolen gas

A man reported that an unknown person removed five gallons of gas from his backyard in the 8200 block of Laramie Avenue on April 10. The gasoline was placed in five red plastic containers, the report said.

Stolen phone

A woman reported her iPhone stolen while shopping at Old Orchard Mall on April 7. The victim tried tracing her phone back through some software she installed on the phone but was unsuccessful in tracking the suspect down, the report said.

Deceptive practice

A man came into the Skokie police station to report a deceptive practice on April 10. According to the report, an unknown person charged $500 to the victim’s MasterCard.

Stolen grill

Police were dispatched to the 8900 block of Lamon Avenue regarding a stolen charcoal grill on April 10.
