Tuesday Blotter: Tax Thievery

iPhone Stolen at Lane Bryant
A woman reported her iPhone 4s stolen while shopping at Lane Bryant on May 25. The phone is valued at $299.99, the report said.

Man Gets Swag on At Marshalls, for Free 
A man allegedly attempted to steal Hugo Boss cologne and a baseball hat from Marshalls on May 25. He was stopped by an employee, and the items were returned. They were valued at $39.98.

A teen refused to pay more than $1 for a soft drink at 7-Eleven on May 25. He got upset that with tax the beverage came out to be $1.08. He took the beverage and left without paying the eight cents, the report said.

Laptop Stolen from Construction Site
A black laptop bag containing a Lenovo computer, valued at $2,400, was reported stolen from a construction site at Old Orchard Mall on May 25.

Fraudulent Gamer, E-Dater
A Skokie resident discovered that someone fraudulently used her account to make transactions on Match.com, with a computer company, iTunes, Best Buy and for gaming accessories on May 17. The charges totaled $373.17, the report said.

Twill Pants Looted
Roughly 27 pairs of pants were discovered missing from Anthropologie in Old Orchard Mall on May 24.

Passport Radar Detector Stolen
A 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse was broken into in the 7000 block of Carpenter Road on May 29. Someone smashed the driver’s side window and stole a passport radar detector, the report said.

$1500 Worth of Stuff Stolen 
A resident in the 8200 block of Skokie Boulevard reported that their storage unit was burglarized on May 13. Hundreds of CDs, as well as DVDs, jewelry and change were stolen, the report said. The owner estimates that $1,500 worth of belongings were stolen.
