Tuesday Blotter: Worker Accused of Taking Cash

Worker allegedly dipped into till

Eric David Clark, 22, of the 7000 block of Osceola Avenue in Niles, was charged with employee retail theft on June 17. According to the police report, Clark worked at the BP gasoline station in the 3700 block of Touhy Avenue. Clark admitted to taking money from the cash register to buy lottery scratch tickets in hopes of going on a vacation with his girlfriend to Florida. All in all, Clark took $411.93 over an eight-day period. His court date is July 12.

Garage burglary

More than $800 in tools and lawn equipment was stolen from a garage in the 3800 block of Warren Avenue on July 17. According to the report, the a lawn mower, snow blower, leaf blower and hedge trimmer were among the missing items.

Purse theft

A woman dinning at Corner Bakery in Old Orchard Mall reported that her wallet was stolen on June 17 around 6 p.m. The woman told police the purse was hanging on the back of a chair while she dined.

License plate stolen

A man who parked his car in the 3400 block of Touhy Avenue reported his license plate was stolen on June 15. 

Graffiti

Police responded to a criminal damage compliant in the 5300 block of Lincoln Avenue on June 17. According to the report, purple spray paint was used to write “IMA PROSTITUTE” on the side of a building.

Cash theft at school

Police responded to a theft at Arie Crown Hebrew Day School on June 17. According to the report, about $50 was taken from a safe in the administrator’s office.
