Two Armed Robberies in Two Days

Culprits may still be at large after robbing two separate victims on consecutive days.

Forty-eight hours, two armed robberies.

That was the theme Sept. 22-23. Each victim described similar assailants, noting that the suspects were both black males with slim builds and in their teens.

In both instances, each suspect pointed a gun at their victim.

According to police reports, the first attack happened in the 4800 block of Crain Street. The two suspects approached a man and displayed their automatic handguns before demanding he empty his pockets. They then went on to steal the victim’s cell phone and would flee the scene shortly after.

Around 9 a.m. the following day, another man was robbed just several blocks west near the . In similar fashion, both subjects brandished their firearms and robbed the victim of $20, police said.

Police are currently investigating the robberies, but weren’t immediately available for comment.

A similar robbery 

On Aug. 15, a Sherman Dodge employee shortly after he cashed his check at , 4924 Demspter St.

According to that report, the employee suspected his assailant had him under watch from the moment he entered the parking lot until he returned to his vehicle.

After cashing his check, a black male opened the driver’s side door and stuck the barrel of a silver revolver in the man's left side. The suspect then began searching the driver's pockets and removed $293 in cash, car keys and a $400 smart phone.

The bandit was described as a black male, with a slim build and also in his teens. He would later flee toward the 4900 block of Enfield Avenue, which is just a few blocks north of where the September attacks occurred. (See map to the right.)

Police were able to obtain surveillance footage recorded outside the Currency Exchange for their investigation. No further information is available at this time.

Held up for an iPod

Also in August, a 14-year-old teen was caught and charged with armed robbery after he robbed a man at gunpoint for his cell phone. In June, two armed men  from two customers leaving a 7-Eleven store. 

In April, a woman  The victim described the assailant as a 16- to 18-year-old male. In December,  near the 8800 block of LaCrosse Avenue with a pistol.
