Two Crashes, Two Towns, Three Police Agencies

Niles, Park Ridge and Skokie police all play roles after a woman hit a car in Niles, fled, then caused another crash in Park Ridge a few minutes later and fled again.

After a woman caused a three-car hit and run accident in Park Ridge at rush hour Wednesday, then hit another car in Niles a few minutes later, the Niles, Park Ridge and Skokie  police departments played roles in stopping and arresting her.

The incident started Wednesday at 5:22 p.m. at Oakton Street and Delphia Avenue in Park Ridge.

Park Ridge police responded to a crash in which a white Audi hit the rear of a Volvo waiting in traffic and caused it, in turn, to hit a Dodge Caravan, which was waiting in traffic in front of the Volvo, according to Park Ridge police.

The driver of the white Audi, Jasmarie Andrade, 26, of the 6000 block of North Albany Street in Chicago, fled the scene quickly without providing any information, police added.

A few minutes later, according to Niles police, Andrade hit another vehicle in Niles at the corner of Touhy and Milwaukee Avenues, just outside the Niles Police Station.

A Niles Police Department community service officer was directing traffic there due to a power failure. He said Andrade didn't stop at the intersection and struck the other vehicle, according to a police report.

The community service officer recorded Andrade's license plate number, and the police agencies broadcast an area-wide message.

Skokie police officers stopped the Audi near 5520 Touhy, Skokie.

Sgt. Robert Tornabene of the Niles Police Department said Niles police took over from Skokie police at that point. That department charged Andrade with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to give aid and information.

Park Ridge police then charged Andrade with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to reduce speed, according to the Park Ridge Police Department.
