Police detail brawl that turned wedding day into nightmare.

The midnight brawl at Zhivago involved more than just a stabbing near the end of a wedding celebration. Police reports released Friday revealed more details about fights among the guests.

At 12:19 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to Zhivago restuarant at 9925 Gross Point Road about a fight involving 60 to 70 people, officials said.

Two men started arguing when things quickly got out of hand, Oleg Biloshkurskiy, general manager at the business, said in an earlier posting at Skokie Patch.

Officers arrived at the scene and encountered a large group of people in the business's north parking lot. Many in the crowd had "blood-stained clothing," police reported.

A shirtless man, whose name is being withheld, told police that he was stabbed. The stabbing victim and a woman who sustained a head injury were transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.

Further details reported that two people were having drinks in the upstairs banquet area when one saw a large group beating their father. In trying to push through the crowd to rescue their dad, one was knocked unconscious when somone struck him on the head with an object.

Several smaller skirmishes also broke out, with a woman telling police she saw her fiancé's mother being chokehold by a man in bloody clothing.

Another woman was struck over the head with a beer bottle and chased by her attacker who brandished a piece of broken glass, according to the police report.

An 8-year-old was injured and taken to Evanston Hospital for treatment. In a separate report, a 2003 green Honda Civic had its rear window shattered during the fight.

But the carnage did not stop there.

One man told police that as he smoked a cigarette outside, he was struck in the face. He said he had to fend off an attacker with a knife but was cut several times after several people joined in on the assault. The victim received five stitches at a hospital for cuts on his back and suffered a bite wound.

A second man was treated for a bruised right eye and cuts to his right hand, arm and torso, according to the report.

Officers also collected several articles of bloody clothing for evidence.

All toll, one person was stabbed and five others were injured during the wedding brawl, authorities said.  No names were released to the media at this time.

The restaurant manager said he did not see who started the fight and who was directly involved, according to the report.
