Wed. Blotter: Burglary at Local Cleaners; Garage Break-in

Burglary

Kely Cleaners, 4016 Golf Rd., was burglarized on April 24. According to the report, officers responded to the businesses when its alarm went off. Upon arrival, they noticed two shattered windows and several cash registers with open drawers. The owner told police that the registers are usually left open and that cash is emptied out at the end of the night.

The owner mentioned to police that it seemed that his laptop was the only item missing. Police are investigating the matter.

Theft from motor vehicle

Police were dispatched to the parking lot just outside Crate & Barrel in Old Orchard Mall on May 1 around 2:24 p.m. According to the report, an attempted vehicular burglary occurred as a car’s windows were smashed. Police were unable to contact the owner and were unsure if any items had been taken. A note was left on the vehicle to contact police.

Garage burglary

A garage in the 5300 block of Harvard Avenue was burglarized on May 1. According to the report, a Ridgid orange drill, a GPS device, high-end sunglasses and $500 in cash were taken from the garage. Police later discovered access was gained through an unlocked service door.
