Wed. Blotter: Man Exposes Himself; Sculpture Smash

Indecent act

A woman reported that a man exposed himself while she was unloading groceries in the 5200 block of Galitz Avenue on April 18 around 7:30 p.m. According to the report, the suspect asked her several questions while his pants were completely undone. The woman described the man as a tall, skinny Hispanic male who drove a dark colored SUV. 

Statue smash

A homeowner reported that his $1,000 5-foot-clay statue was shattered into three pieces on April 18 around 9 p.m. According to the report, the statue sat in front the man's home in the 4000 block of Enfield Avenue. The resident added that the statue has been pushed in the past, but that it usually landed safely on the grassy area of his property.

A woman reported that a bag of shirts was taken from her shopping cart while she loaded the items into her vehicle on April 13 around 10 a.m. The driver said the theft occurred near the Marshall’s Skokie Parking lot.

DUI

Martin Hernandez, 23, of the 4600 block of Karlov Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on April 14 around 7:40 p.m. His vehicle was stopped in the 8200 block of Springfield Avenue after police witnessed Hernandez screeching his tires and driving erratically. Police reported that he had a blood alcohol content level of  .206.  He was also given citations for having no proof of insurance and illegal transportation of alcohol.

Food theft

Police responded to a delayed theft report at the Walgreens at 9150 Skokie Blvd. on April 17 around 4:40 p.m. According to the report, the man walked out of the drugstore after he selected two cans of soda, a dessert and a frozen dinner. The suspect was described as a black male, 5-foot-8, about 200 pounds and about 40 years old.

Theft from motor vehicle

A netbook issued by District 219 school system was stolen from a parked vehicle on April 16. According to the report, a Nike backpack and designer bag were also taken from the car. The report did not state where the theft occurred.
