Road rage leads to vehicle vandalism

Police responded to a criminal damage compliant in the 5100 block of Touhy Avenue on Oct. 4. According to the report, a man told police he saw a driver take a crowbar and scratch the hood of his car. The victim told police he witnessed the incident looking outside his office window.  He added that he might have gotten into an altercation with another driver on his way to work.

Vehicle vandalism

A minivan parked in the 4800 block of Hull Avenue was vandalized on Oct. 4. According to the report, the passenger side window was smashed. No items were reported missing. The victim told police he estimates the damage to cost him around $375.

Counterfeit bill

Police responded to restaurant in the 4000 block of Oakton Street regarding a counterfeit bill on Oct. 4. According to the report, a man paid for a meal totaling $5 with a fake $100 and was given $95 in change. He then fled the store. Police confiscated the phony bill and contacted the Secret Service.

Keyed car

A woman came into the Skokie police station to make a criminal damage compliant on Oct. 6. According to the report, an unknown person(s) scratched the victim’s vehicle as it sat parked in the 4800 block of Hull Avenue.

DUI

Lucy Rendler-Kaplan, 33, of the 8800 block of Kildare Avenue, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 7. According to the report, Rendler-Kaplan was stopped around 2 a.m. for driving without her headlights near Dempster Street and Gross Point Road.

She told police that she had just come back from the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown Chicago and only had one drink. Her blood alcohol content level was .144.
