Theft from motor vehicle

A car parked near Bloomingdale's store in Old Orchard Mall was burglarized on March 6 around 9 a.m. According to the report, a window was smashed to gain access to the vehicle. Audio equipment valued about $500 was taken.

DUI arrest

Colby Beserra, 38, of the 2300 block of Ashland Avenue, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on March 12 around 1 a.m. According to the report, Beserra was stopped for an illegal turn near the 3200 block of Oakton Street. He informed police that he shouldn’t be driving and failed the field sobriety test. His court date is May 2.

Driver busted with pot

Patrick J. Sampsell, 19, of the 6800 block of Mendota Street in Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia on March 16 around 10 p.m. According to the report, Sampsell was parked near the AMC Theaters in Village Crossing shopping center and police noticed that Sampsell was trying to conceal something as they looked in his direction.

Sampsell would later admit to police that he had marijuana in his possession and a glass-smoking pipe. His court date is April 18.

Grand theft auto

A car parked in the 4800 block of Louise Avenue was stolen on March 16. According to the report, the driver went to a friend’s house down the street and when he returned, his vehicle was gone. Police are investigating.

A car parked in the 3900 block of Kirk Street was burglarized on March 16. According to the report, the passenger side window was shattered and the vehicle’s stereo system, valued at around $800, was removed.

Arrest after Tequila taco party

Akiedoe Watson, 35, of the 8300 block of Trumbull Avenue, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on March 11 around 1 a.m. According to the report, police stopped Watson's vehicle near the 8300 block of McCormick Boulevard for speeding. Watson informed police that he was almost home and didn’t have a license because he had “a few DUIs,” according to the report.

After administrating a field sobriety test, police determined that Watson was intoxicated. His wife arrived at the scene later and informed officers that her husband had a drinking problem. She told police that Watson was coming back from a Tequila taco party for a friend’s birthday. His court date is March 21.
