A 17-year-old teen was charged with possession of marijuana after police stopped him in the 8700 block of Monticello Avenue for a traffic violation on July 16. The alleged suspect had less than a gram of cannabis on him, the report said.

Alleged car thief caught

A 16-year-old was caught but not charged after allegedly stealing items from unlocked vehicles near Main Street and Springfield Avenue on July 6. The owner of the vehicle said he did not want to press charges. His items were also returned by police.

Three other 16-year-old teens were also caught but not charged after allegedly stealing items from unlocked vehicles near Main Street and Springfield Avenue on July 6. The owner of the vehicles did not want to press charges, but their items were returned, the report said.

Domestic battery

Eugene Gaston, 22, of the 1800 block of Crain Street in Evanston, was charged with domestic battery and resisting a peace officer on July 23. Gaston allegedly struck his wife in the face and then resisted arrest when officers arrived. His court date is Aug. 6.

Theft from auto

A car parked in the 8000 block of Skokie Boulevard was reported burglarized on July 23. According to the report, a $200 ashtray, radio, rear bumper and taillight were taken from the vehicle. The total value of said items was around $3,000, the report said.
