Wednesday Blotter: DUI, Burglaries

The following arrest information was supplied by the Skokie Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction. At Skokie Patch, we update our blotter daily.

Simple battery

Police responded to the 8900 block of Kenton Avenue regarding a battery complaint on Feb. 3. According to police, a man was walking toward his girlfriend’s house when an unknown person suddenly pushed him to the ground. The offender then fled the scene. No arrests were made.

Home burglary

Police responded to a residential burglary in the 8200 block of Crawford Avenue on Feb. 1. According to the report, the offender(s) pried open a side door and removed cash, electronics and jewelry from the home.

Business burglary

A TV was reported stolen from Durrett Design, 3325 Dempster St., on Feb. 2. The offender(s) gained entry by smashing out the front window of the store, the report stated.

Theft from auto

A man confronted three men after he saw them closing the trunk of his vehicle at Village Crossing on Jan. 30. According to the report, the men threatened the victim and then fled the scene. Missing from the car were several credit cards, a wallet and speakers, the report stated.

Theft at Macy’s

A juvenile was charged with retail theft after he attempted to steal three shirts and three pants from Macy’s in Old Orchard Mall on Jan. 29, police said.

A juvenile was charged with retail theft after attempting to steal two pairs of jeans from Macy’s in Old Orchard Mall on Jan. 31.

Liquor bust

Shawn Wennlund, 34, of Skokie, was charged with retail theft on Feb. 1. Wennlund attempted to steal five bottles of vodka from Jewel, 9449 Skokie Blvd., but was stopped by store security and later charged by police, the report stated.

Vehicle vandalism

A man reported that an unknown person(s) smashed his windshield and side windows of his vehicle parked in the 8600 block of Harding Avenue on Feb. 3.

A car parked in the 9500 block of Kenneth Avenue had its driver’s side window smashed on Feb. 3. No items were reported stolen.

DUI

Estrella Suarez, 46, of Chicago, was charged driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, no proof of insurance, leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a revoked license on Feb. 3. The report did not indicate where the accident or arrest occurred.
