Wednesday Blotter: Five Finger Discount

Concerning text messages

A woman came into the Skokie police station to report a disorderly conduct complaint on April 21. According to the report, the woman received several vulgar text messages from her ex-boyfriend. No charges were filed.

Alesia Shatsina, 28, of the 6800 block of Kilbourn Avenue in Lincolnwood, was charged with felony retail theft on April 21. Shatsina allegedly concealed $1,314 worth of clothing from Nordstrom in Old Orchard Mall and attempted to leave the store without paying. She was stopped by store security, however, and was later charged by Skokie police. Her court date is May 10.

A woman shopping at Macy’s in Old Orchard Mall reported several articles of clothing stolen on April 21. The victim left her shopping bags outside the bathrooms at Macy’s and realized they were gone when she returned. The combined value of said items was around $450, the report said.

Attempted auto theft

Police responded to an attempted auto theft in the 4800 block of Enfield Avenue on April 21. According to the report, an unknown person attempted to steal a car but was unsuccessful. The owner of the vehicle told police that his ignition was damaged from the culprit attempting to start his car, the report said.

Graffiti

Police responded to a criminal damage complaint in the 8500 block of Niles Center Road on April 21. According to the report, a red marker was used to write the words “JVCK” on a rear door.
