Wednesday Blotter: In the Buff; Goons Blamed

DUI arrests

Robin Ward, 33, of the 2100 block of Goeebert in Arlington Heights, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Aug. 13. Ward was stopped for a traffic violation near the 8000 block of McCormick about 11:30 p.m. Officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on Ward's breath and issued a Breathalyzer test, which indicated a blood alcohol content level of .219.

On Aug. 14 at 4:20 a.m., Roberto Olmos, 21, of the 9000 block of Washington in Des Plaines, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol near Touhy and LeClarie. Olmos had a blood alcohol content of .176 and was issued several citations that included driving without a valid license and operation of uninsured motor vehicle.

Samuel McGee, 21, of the 300 block of Oak in Waukegan, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Aug. 15  about 4:20 a.m. McGee was stopped on the 3400 block of Church for a traffic violation. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He had a blood alcohol content of .083 and was issued additional citations for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and no proof of insurance. His court date is Sept. 10.

Assaulted in Robbery

On Aug. 15 about 10:30 p.m., a woman reported being robbed on the 5100 block of Jarlath. According to the report, the crime occured as the woman got out of her vehicle . She was assaulted by the suspect, who fled after he ripped a $1,500 gold necklace off her neck.

'Only drank 2 beers'

On Aug. 14 about 1 a.m., officers responded to a noise complaint on the 9000 block of Kenton. Officers noticed a 17-year-old black female walking on Kenton toward Grove. Officers asked the subject if she had been drinking, to which she responded, "Yes, I only had two beers." The juvenile had a blood alcohol content level of .215 and was arrested for underage drinking.

Pot possession arrest

About 7 p.m. Aug. 14, officers were conducting field interviews at Winnebago Park. Officers approached a black male and detected a strong odor of marijuana smoke on him. The suspect admitted to having a "marijuana cigarette" in his back pocket. He was arrested on scene for possession of marijuana. His court date is Sept. 15.

Arrested in the Buff

On Aug. 15 about 9 p.m., officer responded to a call on the 9200 block of Keeler for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, they saw Thomas Mathew, 54, wearing an Indian custom veil around his waist with no underwear or shirt. Matthew was drunk and agitated at both his wife and daughter. According to the report, Matthew was drinking all day and confronted his daughter in the kitchen with a 12-inch kitchen knife. During the altercation, he raised the knife above his head and yelled, "Bitch, bitch, bitch." After confronting police, Matthew was arrested for domestic offense, and he refused to put on clothes as they transported him to the station.

Shoplifting at 7-11

On Aug. 15 about 11:30 p.m., officer responded to a theft at 7-Eleven on the 3400 block of Church. The clerk reported that 4 to 5 black teens entered the store, grab as many drinks and snack as they could, and ran east on Church.

Movie Arcade Heist

On Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. officers responded to the AMC theater at 7000 Carpenter for a delayed theft investigation. Upon arrival, officers met with an employee who said that an iPod Nano, Playstation Go and Nintendo DSi were stolen from an arcade machine after somone climbed inside and took the items. The total value of the merchandise was $825.

Ransaked in Burglary

Officers were dispatched to a burglary call on the 9400 block of Tripp on Aug. 14 about 9 p.m. Upon arrival, a woman told police her home was burglarized on Aug. 10. Her entire house was ransacked and several valuable items were taken, including a full piggy bank. According to the report, entry was made through a sliding door on the east side of the house.

Motor vehicle theft

On Aug. 6 about 5 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle theft on the 9100 block of Long. According to the report, a man said his black 2003 Acura RSX was stolen from the front of his home on Aug. 5 between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. Police found no signs of shattered glass or indications of the theft.

Gasoline Getaway

On Aug. 16 at 8:36 p.m., officers responded to the Marathon gasoline station on the 3300 block of Dempster. The clerk told police he saw a white male pump $29 worth of gas into a gold Toyota Camry and drive off.

Damage Blamed on Goons

Police responded to the 8700 block of Central Park on Aug. 16 about 8 p.m. to investigate criminal damages. A 70-year-old man reported that his 2005 Chrysler had cracked headlights, small dents on his hood and tire damage. He said he suspects a "loan shark's" goons committed the crime because of a $200 debt.
