Stolen auto

A man who left his 2011 SUV running in the 8900 block of Lamon Avenue reported it stolen on July 18. According to the report, the rented vehicle was left running while the driver ran into his house for a short time.

A car parked in the 3500 block of Dempster Street was reported stolen on July 18. According to the report, the vehicle lacked a battery to start the engine or power it.

Jewelry theft

More than $15,000 in jewelry was reported stolen from a home in the 9400 block of Keystone Avenue on July 18. According to the report, the owner suspected that a cleaning crew took his belongings.

Mother knows best

A mother called police after she discovered her 15-year-old son came home drunk about 11 p.m. July 18. The teen was given a citation for consumption of alcohol by a minor and has a court date of Aug. 22.

Train yard graffiti

Police responded to a criminal damage compliant in the 3700 block of Oakton Street on July 19. According to the report, spray paint was used to write illegible words on a train.

Sidewalk vandalism

Police responded to a criminal damage compliant in the 8200 block of Skokie Boulevard on July 19. According to the report, “F*** All” and “Rach3l + Bsssy = Fr3einds Forever” were written in cement that eventually dried.

Stolen bicycle

A bike left unsecured was stolen from the backyard of a home in the 8600 block of Trumbull Avenue on July 18. The bicycle was valued at $100.

Theft at Oakton Pool

A black iPhone was stolen from a purse at Oakton Aquatic Center, 4665 Oakton St., on July 18. According to the report, the bag was left unattended.

Police responded to a theft from motor vehicle at the Oakton Aquatic Center, 4665 Oakton St., on July 17. According to the report, a purse, digital camera and several gift cards were taken from the vehicle. The rear driver’s side window was smashed to gain entry.

Teen driver in DUI

A 17-year-old boy was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on July 13 around 2:30 a.m. According to the report, police spotted a car sitting idle with three teens in the 9500 block of Lincolnwood Drive in Skokie.

When police approached the car, they detected a strong odor of alcohol on the driver, whose blood alcohol content level registered .123. The arrested teen was also charged with driving with an invalid license. His court date is Aug. 19.

DUI

Tadeusz Murzanski, 50, of the 1200 block of 13th Avenue in Deerfield, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on July 17 around 3 a.m. According to the report, Murzanski was stopped for a traffic violation near Niles Center Road and Touhy Avenue. He registered a blood alcohol content level of .150.
