Wednesday Blotter: Pot Bust of Niles North Student

DUI

Bayarbat Buyankhuu, 22, of the 8000 block of Kilpatrick Avenue, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, having no valid driver’s license and speeding about 2 a.m. June 6.

According to the report, Buyankhuu was clocked driving 77 mph in a 35 mph zone near the 4400 block of Oakton Street. When stopped, he failed the field sobriety test and was found wanted by authorities for an immigration violation. Due to his citizen status, police were advised to call the Embassy of Mongolia in Washington, D.C., regarding his status.

Wallet stolen during dining

A woman eating at Corner Bakery in Old Orchard Mall reported her wallet stolen on June 2 around 2 p.m. It was later discovered that $20 was charged at a local store before she was able to cancel the card.

Garage burglary

A garage in the 5300 block of Davis Street was burglarized on June 5. According to the report, several bicycles and a lawnmower were stolen.

Backyard décor stolen

Police responded to a theft in the 5300 block of Arcadia Avenue on June 3 around 9 a.m. According to the report, two brown anti-gravity lawn chairs valued at $165 each were stolen from the backyard.

Niles North marijuana bust

A Niles North High School student was caught with less than a gram of marijuana while attending school on June 3. According to the report, the teenager was talking to her friend in the bathroom about the recently purchased marijuana and a teacher passing by overheard the conversation. The girl’s purse was later searched and school officials found a green leafy substance, which was later confirmed as marijuana.

The girl’s parents were notified and she was issued a citation for possession of marijuana.
