Wednesday Blotter: Ruse Burglary

Ruse burglary

About $250 worth of jewelry was reported stolen from a home in the 8300 block of Keeler Avenue following a ruse burglary on March 1. According to police, a man posing as a neighbor told the homeowner that he had a solution to the flooding problem in the neighborhood. After the man left, it was determined that $250 worth of jewelry was missing from the home, police said.

Residential burglary

Officers responded to the 7800 block of East Prairie Road regarding a residential burglary on March 2. According to police, brute force was used to enter the residence. Missing from the home was a Playstation 3 and laptop.

Police responded to a residential burglary in the 7600 block of East Prairie Road on March 3. While entry was made, nothing was reported missing, police said.

Business vandalism

An employee at Austin Liquors, 3505 Dempster St., reported that an unknown person threw a rock through the store’s front window on March 3.

Theft from auto

A purse containing $250, credit cards, keys and several IDs were reported stolen from a car parked in the 9400 block of Lincolnwood on March 3.

Hit and run

Police responded to a hit and run accident at 4658 Oakton Street on March 1. According to police, Thomas Pena, 25, of Chicago, was charged with the crime. Pena was also charged for possession of drug paraphernalia. No further details were provided.

Possession of marijuana (Location of arrests was not provided)

Sargon Namrod, 19, of Skokie, was charged with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia on March 2.

Allen Williams, 23, of Gurnee, was charged with possession of cannabis on March 3.

Javier Medina, 22, of Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis on March 2.

Stolen phone

A woman reported her Apple iPhone stolen after visiting a nail salon in Old Orchard Mall on March 2.

Theft at Macy’s

Jermaine Sheppard, 18, of Skokie, was charged with retail theft on March 1. According to police, Sheppard attempted to steal several pieces of clothing but was stopped by store security.

DUI

Sara Franse, 31, of Des Plaines, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Feb. 24. Police did not indicate why Franse was stopped or where she was stopped and at what time.
