Wednesday Blotter: Parking Dispute Battery

Parking dispute results in battery

Police responded to a battery complaint at Westfield Old Orchard Mall on Jan. 19. According to police, a woman was attempting to park her vehicle when another individual tried taking the same parking space. The other driver than exited her car and spit on the victim, police said. No arrests were made.

Police responded to a criminal damage complaint in the 4500 block of Grove Street on Jan. 19. According to the report, an unknown person(s) threw several eggs, bread, oranges and even a pumpkin at a person's parked vehicle.

Stolen briefcase

Police responded to a theft from auto at Lifetime Fitness, 5330 Old Orchard Road, on Jan. 2. According to the report, the offender smashed out the vehicle's passenger side window and removed a Swiss Army briefcase.

Mountain bike getaway

A Bloomindales's loss prevention employee reported that eight North Face jackets were snatched out of his hand outside the store by an unknown person on a mountain bike on Jan. 19. According to police, the jackets were outside of the store and the employee was collecting them to bring them back into the store. No arrests were made.

Theft at Macy's

Two teens were charged with retail theft after attempting to steal several pieces of clothing from Macy's in Old Orchard Mall on Jan. 19.

Nordstrom theft

Irene Carrera, 50, of Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft on Jan. 18. Carrera attempted to steal a $348 Coach handbag from Nordstrom in Old Orchard Mall, police said.

Stolen tip container

About $10 in coins and bills were removed from a tip jar at Starbucks in Old Orchard Mall on Jan. 17.

Retail theft

An unknown person stole several pieces of clothing with a combined value of about $1,000 from the Armani Exchange in Old Orchard Mall on Dec. 28.

Stolen parts

A man reported numerous vehicle parts stolen from his backyard in the 5000 block of Louise Avenue on Jan. 14. The parts were scattered throughout the yard, according to the report.

Theft at Nordstrom

Police responded to a theft at Nordstrom in Old Orchard Mall on Jan. 14. According to the report, a man stole a black Northface jacket and fled the store without paying. No arrests were made.

Theft from auto

A woman reported that an unknown person stole her Coach brand wallet from her vehicle parked in the 8800 block of Lockwood Avenue on Jan. 14.

Stolen phone

A woman reported her cell phone stolen after shopping at Macy’s in Old Orchard Mall on Dec. 23.

Graffiti

Police responded to a criminal damage complaint in the 7900 block of Skokie Boulevard on Dec. 28. According to the report, spray paint was used to write several words on a building’s wall.

DUI

Sara Binder, 23, of Skokie, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, no proof of insurance and driving on a suspended license on Jan. 20. Binder was stopped around 3:40 a.m. after police saw her driving over the media, the report stated.

Steven Kramer, 34, of Skokie, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Jan. 18.

Andrezej Partyka, 35, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, parking on the roadway and transporting open alcohol on Jan. 11.

Humberto Vicuna, 56, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol on Jan. 1.
