Wednsday Blotter: Attempted Kidnapping

The following arrest information was supplied by the Skokie Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction. At Skokie Patch, we update our blotter daily.

Attempted kidnapping

A child running in the 9200 block of Skokie Boulevard reported an attempted kidnapping to police on March 10 around 5 p.m. According to the report, a man positioned his car in front of the victim and said, “Get in the car,” the report stated. The girl then ran from the scene.

The suspect was described as a white male, about 45 to 50-years-of-age, pudgy build, short brown crew cut hair, bushy eyebrows, a clean shave and round face, police said.

Man attacks police

Eric Koch, 35, of Chicago, was charged with battery and resisting arrest on March 7 around 10 p.m. According to police, officers were investigating a possible drug transaction when Koch then struck the policeman in the face with his elbow. He would then flee the scene, but was ultimately apprehended.

The report did not indicate where the crime occurred.

Stolen plates

A man reported his front license plate stolen from his vehicle parked in the 4900 block of Kirk Street on March 3.

Theft from auto

A man reported that a box containing several carton of cigarettes and chewing gum was stolen from his car parked in the 5100 block of Main Street on March 8.

A laptop was reported stolen from a car parked in the 4100 block of Dempster Street on March 8.

A body kit for the front end of a vehicle was reported stolen from the parking lot of Westfield Old Orchard Mall on March 10.

Running vehicle stolen

A man that left his vehicle running reported it stolen from the 8300 block of Christiana Avenue on March 10.

Thrown dog feces

A man reported that an unknown person(s) threw dog feces at his home in the 8300 block of Christiana Avenue on March 10.

Return gone bad

Kimberly Hill, 40, of Evanston, was charged with possession of cannabis on March 8. Hill was returning a jacket at Old Navy, 9435 Skokie Blvd., when several bags of marijuana fell out of the jacket.

Stolen baby formula

Police responded to a theft at Jewel, 9449 Skokie Blvd., on March 7. According to police, a man took baby formula from the store and fled the scene. No arrests were made.

Gas and go

A man stole an unknown amount of gas from BP Gas Station, 5001 Old Orchard Road, on March 8.

Nida Iqbal, 18, of Morton Grove, and Nida Kahn, 18, of Niles, were both charged with retail theft on March 8. The duo attempted to steal goods from Macy’s in Old Orchard Mall but were stopped by store security and later charged by police.
