Woman Charged with Killing Grandmother

A 33-year-old Des Plaines woman has been charged with murder.

A Des Plaines woman faces murder charges related to the Oct. 3 death of her grandmother.

Police have charged Lynn Marie Bingaman, 33, with first degree murder and with two counts of aggravated domestic battery. Police said that on Sept. 30 Bingaman and her mother, Susan Searls, 63, were having an argument.

Police said that when Bingaman attempted to leave house, her grandmother, Betty Knaack, 83, got up to talk to her. Police said Bingaman pushed Knaack, causing her to fall and hit her head against a wooden chair.

Searls then stood in front of the front door and Bingaman hit her with a closed first several times, police stated.

Knaack was taken to Resurrection Hospital for evaluation. On Oct. 3, Knaack died from her head injury and the Cook County Medical Examiner's officer ruled her death a homicide.
