Skokie Woman Fights Off Strong-Armed Robber

The attacker grabbed the woman's purse in a store parking lot, and hit her in the face with a metal cup.

When a 41-year-old Skokie woman was walking in a parking lot of a shopping center in the 5600 block of Touhy Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, another woman approached her from behind and tried to grab her purse, Niles police said in a statement.

The victim tried to resist the attacker, and the attacker struck the victim in the face with a metal coffee cup. The victim began yelling, "let go and get away." Money fell out of the victim's purse onto the ground, and the attacker grabbed some and fled, according to the statement. She was seen getting into a silver minivan.

The victim described the attacker as a 20- to 30-year-old female, but was not able to provide a more detailed description. Niles Fire Department paramedics treated and released the victim at the scene.

Niles police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the Investigation Division at (847) 588-6500.

Shouldn't this headline read "Skokie Woman Fights Off Strong-Armed Robber In Niles"? By using Skokie but not Niles, the implication is the crime happened in Skokie. Why did you name the city the crime happened in in another recent story, "Skokie Man Shot In Evanston", but not this one? You also could have added it to the sub-header as: "...a store parking lot in Niles...".
