Skokie Woman Fights Off Strong-Armed Robber
The attacker grabbed the woman's purse in a store parking lot, and hit her in the face with a metal cup.
When a 41-year-old Skokie woman was walking in a parking lot of a shopping center in the 5600 block of Touhy Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, another woman approached her from behind and tried to grab her purse, Niles police said in a statement.
The victim tried to resist the attacker, and the attacker struck the victim in the face with a metal coffee cup. The victim began yelling, "let go and get away." Money fell out of the victim's purse onto the ground, and the attacker grabbed some and fled, according to the statement. She was seen getting into a silver minivan.
The victim described the attacker as a 20- to 30-year-old female, but was not able to provide a more detailed description. Niles Fire Department paramedics treated and released the victim at the scene.
