Woman Attacked, Robbed of Vehicle in Skokie

A 58-year-old woman was cut with a sharp object following a robbery attempt in Skokie on Saturday. The offender would ultimately make off with woman's vehicle.

A Skokie woman was attacked with a "sharp object" prior to having her vehicle stolen on Saturday, police said.

The woman, 58, was unloading groceries from her car at about 12:12 p.m. in the 4800 block of Carol Street, according to police. The man tried to take the victim’s purse, but she refused and a struggle soon ensued.

The woman was cut with a sharp object and the offender was last seen fleeing the scene with the woman’s 2004 silver Toyota Highlander, police said. The license plate number is 7118755, police said in a press release.

Meanwhile, the woman was taken to Evanston Hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.

The man is described as white, tall, about 20 to 25-year-of-age with a skinny build. He was wearing a black hood and black jacket at the time of the robbery, police said.
