Don Perille Steps Down After 52 Years of Serving the Village of Skokie

The Skokie Trustee will step down from his seat in the village hall council chambers on April 22.

Skokie resident Don Perille has served the village for a record 52 years in some capacity or other, either at the village’s Plan Commission or as a village trustee. On April 22, however, the Skokie trustee will be stepping down from his seat in the village hall council chambers.

Perille, 84, who has been part of village government since John Kennedy was in the White House, decided to move on and make way for new trustees.

Perille, moved to Skokie in 1959. Two years later he started a 28-year run on the Planning Commission before moving to the village board in 1989. He conceded he considered stepping down before the last election but decided to serve one last term and has now decided it is the right time to retire.
