Important Events, Dates Regarding Multi-Unit Housing Ordinance
Grass-roots community group Skokie Voice has shared information regarding the proposed multi-unit ordinance. Check out these important meeting dates and information regarding the multi-unit proposal.
From the community ~
The Village of Skokie is considering initiating a multi-unit rental licensing program. Within the Village there are approximately 1,200 multi-unit buildings providing 5,000 units of rental housing. The Village is pursuing licensing as a proactive and preventative initiative to strengthen the communication and partnership between landlords and the Village. Licensing of multi-unit buildings is quite common in the Chicago metropolitan area.
The Village's Public Safety Commission hosted two public hearings on April 18 and May 14, 2012 regarding the proposal. Following the public hearings and the Commission's deliberations the Commission endorsed the proposed multi-unit rental licensing program.
