New Restaurant Slated at Former 'Pat's Place' Location

'Alexander's' restaurant' is set to open in downtown Skokie around April 15.

Ted Angelopoulos has some pretty big shoes to fill. Angelopoulos, owner of Café Mozart in Evanston, 600 Davis St., is opening his second restaurant at the former Pat's Place.

He's aiming to open his doors at 5025 Oakton St. by April 15, Angelopoulos said.

The Mather High School graduate has been running Café Mozart for about 10 years now. He said he decided to come to the downtown area because he's always wanted a "breakfast-lunch type of place."

"It's going to be your typical American breakfast with a twist," Angelopoulos said. "I don't want to say gourmet, but the ingredients are going to be better - the chesses, the eggs - everything is going to be high-grade."

Angelopoulos added that his restaurant will feature a fresh look, with hardwood floors, modern furnishings and vibrant lighting.

"It's going to have a very clean look inside," he said. "To be honest, I'm more excited about my kitchen and the type of hardware I'm going to have. Customers may not see it, but makes a difference with service and quality of the food."

Angelopoulos will be making some $120,000 in renovations, $50,000 of which is coming from the village's downtown TIF district.

He added that the new CTA station and the village's support for downtown business growth was one of the reasons he chose downtown Skokie

"The reinventing of Skokie, the whole up and coming renovation, the train station - that all went into consideration," he said. "I look at places like Libertad thriving, and I can see the village' commitment. It's going to be exciting opening our doors to the community."
