Shore Galleries Files Lawsuit Against Village of Lincolnwood

Shore Galleries is suing the village because it says it is within their right to build a shooting range within Lincolnwood's Industrial District.

After pleading with residents to vote for specific candidates in Lincolnwood's April elections, Shore Galleries, 3318 W. Devon Ave., has now filed a lawsuit against the village's zoning board of appeals, according to ChicagoRealEstateDaily.com.

The company was originally hoping for a new firing range and gun shop in Lincolnwood's Industrial District, or near Touhy Avenue and McCormick Boulevard.

Shore to build a 30,000 square-foot gun shop and 16-lane firing range, despite its close proximity to three parks, a bike path and three schools.  The board of trustees then rejected the measure 4-1.

Shore Galleries then submitted a proposal to the zoning board in October, stating the shooting range would be under a "health club or private recreation" category. That interpretation was also rejected, according to ChicagoRealEstateDaily.com.

According to the publication, Shore is asking for "judicial review of the board's decision, alleging it is 'contrary to the law and facts.'"
