Today WAS Supposed To Be Free Pizza Day

Skokie Patch reported that today, July 10, was supposed to be free pizza day. However, due to a last minute notice from the restaurant owner, free pizza day has been postponed. Check out why here.

There's nothing like telling the entire community that they're going to get a free pizza thanks to a local business. And there's nothing like telling the entire community at the very last minute that the event is now postponed.

It's a giant, "Aw man!"

Free pizza day was supposed to take place at recently opened De Carlucci's Pizza, near Main Street and Crawford Avenue. Owner Rick Santos purchased the business from.

The problem: Santos has a checklist of things to do with the village, primarily the paperwork and requirements to officially change the restaurant's name. The village informed Santos yesterday that he had to close shop until the changes are made. It's a technicality, and Santos said he's working with the village to resolve the issue so he can reopen and relaunch free pizza day.

By the time Skokie Patch spoke with Santos, it was already Monday afternoon. Santos said he was really excited about free pizza day, but added that he has to work with the village to meet code before reopening.  If it's any consolation, Santos said free pizza day will happen after he squares everything up with the village.

In the meantime, Skokie Patch would like to apologize for the confusion and the heartbreak.

We hope you can forgive us.

Best,
