Prior to the park's final design, Skokie skateboarders were consulted at a public meeting of the district's park services committee on Sept. 5. More than 40 enthusiasts showed up to make their final comments to the park's designer. The local group also worked with the district in the initial design phase.

In a partnership with School District 69, the Skokie Park District is set to oversee and supervise construction and the subsequent maintenance of the new park on the northeast portion of the school's property, just southeast of downtown Skokie. The Village of Skokie will provide $300,000 in Tax Increment Funding (TIF) toward the project, with the Park District picking up the funding balance.
