What Do You Want To See in a New Village Manager?

Skokie Village Manager Al Rigoni has announced he will retire at the end of this year, and many of you had something to say about that in the board posts.

Rigoni has been village manager since 1987, according to the village's website. He started in 1976 as Assistant Village Manager.

That adds up to 26 years as village manager, and 37 years, total, of service to the village. During that time, Rigoni has worked on many things, including the expansion of Old Orchard, the development of Village Crossing and more.

What would you like to see in a new village manager? What will be important for that person to do?

On the Skokie Patch boards, Cindy Wells said, "This is a very important job in Skokie, so much so that the Mayor takes second seat, or has to Rigoni, maybe no more though."  She added, "we need the reigns (sic) loosened to combat the mess in this town...crime is increasing."

shp said, "Skokie would be served best by hiring a person who doesn't have ties with the Caucus Party."
