Who Is Sgt. Cory Remsburg?

President Barack Obama's tribute to the wounded military man resulted in a long ovation and many wiping tears from their eyes.

President Obama couldn't get Republicans to applaud for several talking points during his 2014 State of the Union speech, but they stood up and applauded at length, as did everyone else, when he introduced Sgt. First Class Cory Remsburg.

The president met Remsburg three times; once when the Army Ranger was in perfect health and participating in a World War II anniversary ceremony; once after he was severely wounded by an IED in Afghanistan, and once again two weeks ago, reported the New York Times.

Remsburg spent years in rehabilitation after he was injured, reported abc15.com and leadthewayfund.org, which is fundraising to assist injured Army Rangers like Remsburg, as well as families of those who have died.

Craig Remsburg, Cory's father, wrote on caringbridge.org that Cory is challenging himself through rehabilitation by participating in events such as the Lead the Way 5K run down Hero's Highway in New York City and the Wounded Warrior Pacific Invitational Meet in Hawaii. He was riding a bike in the events.
