Skokie-based developer Jack Weiss is hoping to redevelop the Purple Hotel, surrounding it with retail, offices and a spa—a planned unit development application was recently submitted to the Village of Lincolnwood, Skokie Review reported.
The $28 million redevelopment includes a 208-room full-service hotel, 40,000 square feet of restaurant and multi-purpose space, a spa, about 33,000 square feet of retail space and 12,000 square of office space—but some Lincolnwood Plan Commission members and village trustees are concerned with the developer’s build it and they will come approach, Skokie Review reported.
Located at 4500 Touhy Ave., the most recognizable building in Lincolnwood is also the village's biggest headache. The Purple Hotel is remembered for a variety of historical events .
