Are These Really the '10 Best Cities' in Illinois?

We've got a list of the top ten cities in Illinois according to one real estate blog. Would you agree with the picks?

It's not scientific in any way, and rankings were determined by a real estate blog, but it still presents an interesting discussion point.

What are the 10 best cities in Illinois?

Movoto thinks they know the answer to that question. According to Movoto, north suburban Northbrook is the top city in Illinois. In fact, you can stay in the north suburbs for the top four cities.

Then stay in the north and west suburbs for the rest of the list. No downstate cities are on the list. No southern suburbs. No Chicago.

Do you agree with Movoto?

One of the criteria Movoto used in their rankings was median income. Obviously, if a city has millionaires, that would raise the median income. And speaking of millionaires, they have reason to be happy today (besides, you know, being millionaires). House Speaker Michael Madigan pulled the plug on a proposed millionaire tax amendment.

I wouldn't live in most of those cities if you gave me house for free. Upscale and uptight, no thank you.

The only upscale town listed here is Highland Park....the rest are wannabe upscale. The uptight people are the wannabe upscale people...so given that...yes Linda you are right...best you avoid all those wannabes.

I would argue that just about every town has a certain amount of uptight citizens. Naperville certainly has its share at least. We should not rely on a list to tell us where the best places to live are. Your town is what you make of it. If you are happy in the home and town you live in then that should be enough satisfaction.

Where you live does not define you. How you conduct yourself and the values you instill in your family make wherever you live the best place in Illinois .

I agree to a point Lisa, but external elements certainly has the capabilities of defining a person. Neighbors kids always throwing trash outside of their car, kids walking around with their pants half way down their arse, drug dealing, the occasional child perp that lives down the street, the list goes on. Certain areas are way more conducive and advantageous to raising your family the right way, inside and out.
